Introduction

Office administration is a part of an organization that deals with then combination of various resources to produce results. In the health industry, for example, the human resources are highly critical to the performance of any organization. Human resource management may be briefly defined as activities managers engage in to attract and retain employees in an organization and to ensure they perform efficiently. This will eventually contribute to the realization of the organizational goal. This calls for the manager to understand strategic human resource management. This can be described as the process through which managers carry out recruitment, selection, training, development, performance appraisal, feedback, remuneration and labor relation in an organization. This can be possible through a well informed manager. Proper scrutiny of a potential manager is thus inevitable. This paper is a reflection of the subject areas of human resource management in a health industry.

In the medical industry, office administration is of great importance. to monitor and model employees. Training the recruits makes them fit to take their new responsibilities. The management develops and motivates employees. Those who perform well get rewards and corrective measures are imposed to those who do not perform well.

The international and local laws governing the operation of managers must not be compromised especially when executing their duties. They should also be an integral part of the planning. Planning refers to steps the managers follow in identifying and selecting the necessary and workable goals, and the action to be taken. Planning is a critical tool in any organisation for formulating and evaluating human resource strategies. Good planning results to organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

Other managerial duties include; controlling, leading and organizing whereby in medical office administration a proper adherence to these guidelines leads to proper management and consequently achievement of goals.

Subject areas of course: Recruitment and selection

Recruitment refers to, making it known to qualified members of public that a job opportunity exists in a given organization. It can be either internal recruitment; where the employees in an organisation fill the existing position. An example is the promotion from junior manager to a senior manager. The core objective of recruitment is to ensure that the applicant knows the job expectations. The recruits get to know the organization norms and other ways of doing things. The recruits know about the challenges within the organisation and how to cope with them. The applicant who secure jobs should have enough skills to perform those jobs.

Training and development

Training is imparting the skill, knowledge and abilities which managers find quiet necessary to an employee in order for them to perform effectively. It can be done online, on the job training or even through meetings and seminars organized by relevant teams.

Performance appraisal and feedback

This entails analyzing the job performance of each employee which contributes to the realization of organizational goals. While performance feedback is where after the management has fully analyzed the job performance the manager promptly shares their observations with the employees., This gives them the opportunity to reflect on their own performance.

Remuneration and benefits

An organization should be fair in remunerating the employees. It should compare what other organisation in the same industry are using to appreciate the effort of employees. The management should also establish a reasonable way of rewarding employees in terms of benefits.

Labor relation

This involves all the activities that managers do to ensure effective working relationship with employee labor unions. Effective labor relationship prevents conflict and dispute that may hinder goal achievement. Performance appraisal enhances feedback. Training and development ensures organizational effectiveness.

Conclusion

Labor is the most significant factor of production. Unlike other factors, it has feelings and emotions that need to be guarded. For this reason, the firms through the human resource development should create a conducive environment for the workers. All employees should be motivated through good remuneration. Employees should be motivated to work other than harassing them. The managers should seek to understand the five subject areas of human resource management. These will enhance their relationship with the employees and increase organizational performance.
