Introduction

DMAIC is one of the most effective tools for the continuous improvement and achievement of better outcomes. Its effectiveness comes from the ability to form a practical problem-solving framework that is characterized by a high level of standardization (Wedgwood 15). Such a process can be developed by introducing key milestones that should be observed when evaluating a particular product or process. As it can be seen from the As-Is flowchart, a high level of standardization is achieved due to the existence of phases that are introduced in accordance with the DMAIC paradigm. It helps to guarantee that all products will be tested in similar ways.

Main body

At the same time, some challenges can arise during the implementation of changes to the process. For instance, the application of DMAIC tools can demand alteration of the operations or systems to align their improved functioning regarding the information acquired during the investigation phase (Wedgwood 19). The given reconsideration might require additional resources or finances to remain effective. Moreover, there is a high risk of resistance to change because of the lack of understanding of how to operate in the new working environment. The given barriers should be considered when planning the desired change to avoid the critical deterioration of the situation.

The resistance to change mentioned above can be effectively managed by using some communication and implementation tools and plans. For instance, the creation of a detailed schedule outlining all planned alterations and new policies will help to eliminate the lack of knowledge and prepare workers for new demands and conditions (Wisner 56). At the same time, change might be followed by some misunderstandings or numerous problematic situations. Under these conditions, an effective communication plan that explains how to cooperate in different cases might create a positive climate and reduce the chance of poor outcomes. In such a way, resistance to change can be managed by using sufficient communication tools that create better understanding levels.

Conclusion

Altogether, the DMAIC paradigm remains one of the effective quality improvement tools. It helps to assess the current problems or state of the organization and offers options for the creation of standardized processes and approaches. The resistance to change that emerges during various phases can be managed by practical communication tools.
