In an organization, individuals ought to interact and work together towards achieving a common goal. Organizational behavior includes the functioning, structure, and performance of the organization and its action. Managerial decision-making requires evaluation of what people are doing and how their behavior affects the organization’s general performance. It is easier for organizations to attain their objectives if only all persons take their responsibilities effectively. Notably, to achieve managerial decision-making and communication, it is imperative to consider the uses of emotional intelligence in decision-making, how to make decisions in an organization, and the techniques for improving decision-making.
Primarily, the use of emotional intelligence is critical in the process of decision-making. Such application requires understanding and managing emotions in oneself and others (Gronchi and Giovannelli, 2018, p. 1237). In every organization, it is the work of the administration to make decisions daily. These might be long-term decisions, such as establishing a new business, and the short-term decisions that are always regular in running the business.
Those short-term declarations are more critical for the long-term success of the organization. Furthermore, emotional intelligence in decision-making can be categorized into two separate systems that are reactive and reflective coordination (Goleman, 2012). The reflective system is much better for the significant and crucial decisions, while the reactive strategy is more effective when based on the established experiences.
Additionally, decisions in an organization can be either programmed or non-programmed. Planned decisions can be based on a well delivered and understood the situation, while the other choices lack clear procedures for solving a solution. Seniors in a business can establish rules and well-articulated strategies for the programmed decisions that will enable leaders to make conclusions fast. Managers should also be in a position to collect comprehensive information to identify the barriers to effective decision-making. For instance, the business individuals’ conflicts might make it more challenging to achieve the right decision. Later on, the seniors should know how to improve the quality of decision-making by using other techniques. They must be creative enough when generating new alternatives and involve other individuals in the process.
Likewise, it is imperative to comprehend how to make decisions in an organization and the methodologies to improve decision-making. For making the right decision, communication is essential when interacting with the other teams in an organization. Such communication influences others’ attitudes and behavior, which makes them express their feelings and emotions. After paying much attention, communication provides a platform for employees in the organization to express their views because people have different perceptions (Openstax.org, 2019). These can be regarded as a system that receives and exchanges information about issues or events. Therefore, communication strengthens the organization’s arrangement and makes use of correct structures.
The concern about improvements in decision-making requires everyone in the organization to understand their roles and responsibilities. Organizational communication always gives a clear direction to information courses, and each has a different challenge. Communication helps to compile all the decisions made and finally provide the way forward. Hence, the manager must understand the organization’s identity and what others think about it with the intent of improving management’s success.
In conclusion, emotional intelligence is a useful tool in contributing to managerial success. There are different decision-making processes to be adhered to, and their effects on an organization need to be considered. In addition, decision-making techniques are crucial in influencing the organizational fraternity’s exchange of ideas. Finally, it is important to mention that there are acceptable practices that must apply to improve organizational success.
