Introduction

The company focuses on a variety of different types of roofs which can be classified into several categories. First, roofs are classified depending on design features, such as flat, gable, with attic, without an attic, mansard, etc. Moreover, there are types of roofs depending on geometric shape, such as shed, butterfly, M-shaped roof, and other. The company does not have a specific color of the roofs since it can be chosen by the customer. The main material, which is used in roofing, is wood with other materials for smaller parts of the roofing. The measurement of the roofing area can be done via dividing the roofing surface into geometrical shapes with easy area calculation, such as triangles and rectangles.

The lifespan of the product is in the range of from ten to forty years. In the construction regulatory documentation, the design life of materials and structures is laid down, it is calculated based on the loss of about 50% of their mechanical, physical, aesthetic properties, and this service life of the product is usually called durability or lifespan. The company does not have a patent for any type of roofing construction or design since techniques used for construction are commonly used technologies. The waste after construction of the roof is going to be minimal since the sizes of the roofing are taken before the construction phase. However, minimal construction waste materials will be left for the customer if requested so.

Required Materials

Roofing itself is the most important material, the choice of which should be given special attention. The most popular are such roofing materials as corrugated board, bituminous shingles, composite shingles, natural shingles (Abuseif & Gou, 2018). After completing the installation of the roofing, care must be taken to ensure that all joints are carefully protected from precipitation. For this purpose, roofing strips are used – these are special components made to match the roof covering and used as additional elements in the installation of the roof. Gutter systems are necessary to ensure the long-term preservation of facades because the outflow of water into special pipes allows you to preserve the type of materials that were used in the cladding of the walls of the building. To provide the desired ventilation in the under-roof space and at the same time prevent debris from entering there, building material such as a soffit is used.

Material Suppliers and Equipment

Since the company does not manufacture the materials needed for roof construction, the suppliers to buy the required materials are invloved. Beacon company is going to be the main supplier of roofing materials. The advantage of the chosen company is that they have all variety of material required for roofing with delivery service. The tools required to install the roofing and covering include a hammer, construction stapler for fixing steam and waterproofing membranes, construction knife. Online roofing materials are cut with a hacksaw with medium-sized teeth. The length of the blade of such a hacksaw is no more than 35-40 cm.

The roof is aligned with the construction cord. Marking is done with a marker in a contrasting color. For small jobs, pliers, a regular and Phillips screwdriver, or a screwdriver with a set of nozzles are needed. The rafter system, the base, and skeleton of the roof are made of wooden beams of one section or another. Accordingly, for the construction of the rafter system, carpentry tools are used – an ax, a hammer, a hacksaw. Depending on the method of connecting the rafter legs with the mauerlat beam, one may need a screwdriver or wrenches.

Cost and Production Plan

The cost for the materials and equipment depends on the number of products being purchased. Production plan is very important for the management of the whole process. It gives opportunity to deliver the product in a good quality and timely manner.

Production plan includes the following steps:

  1. Request of the custormer
  2. Identification of type and size of the roof with cost
  3. Order of the required materials based on the results of the step 2
  4. Scheduling of the construction
  5. Construction process
  6. Comissioning and finishing
