Leadership in a culturally diverse society is challenging for individuals assigned with public roles and responsibilities. Communities depict different attributes of diversity, including gender, race, sex, and religion (Hallinger, 2018). Leaders are expected to integrate vital skills and knowledge intended to ensure growth and progress within a society. This plan describes a strategy regarding effective leadership in a culturally diverse community. It also compares and contrasts the strategy with the political leadership of U.S. President Joe Biden. In essence, leading a culturally sensitive community requires social intelligence and conflict management knowledge for objective progress and development.

I consider adopting stakeholder cohesion and conflict management for developing a strategic plan of leading individuals. Communication is a significant tool used to unite people for collective social growth. For instance, implementing an administrative policy regarding official working days requires the inclusion of representatives from all religions (Wilson et al., 2018). In this social setting the participants agree on the most suitable working schedule, which avoids interference of spiritual obligations and beliefs among affected employees. Stakeholder cohesion is fundamental in preventing conflict management instances as individuals disagree from time to time (Hallinger, 2018). For instance, it is common for workers to relate national politics with their organization’s practices. This is a source of conflict and requires cultural intelligence for objective resolution. As an effective leader, it is essential to make timely and accurate communication when gathering information required for decision-making (Hallinger, 2018). Identifying the concerns and interests of all stakeholders and ensuring commitment and loyalty contributes to positive outcomes in leadership challenges. Most fundamentally, a tactical leadership plan should ensure inclusivity and diversity.

This strategic plan is comparable to the presidency of the current U.S. president. He is challenged working in a culturally sensitive American society. Recently, there was a social campaign against systemic discrimination against African Americans. The “Black Lives Matter” initiative depicts a community with diverse political views based on race. A strategic plan for overcoming the hurdles requires stakeholder cohesion and conflict management knowledge. People living in diverse and liberal communities experience social disagreements arising from a specific topic. President Joe Biden has responded proactively by ensuring objective integration of stakeholders representing each community (Wilson et al., 2018). For instance, he appointed Lloyd J. Austin as the 28th secretary of defense in his cabinet. However, I differ with his open approach regarding international negotiations with rivals. Stakeholder cohesion, in this context, should be concise and protective to avoid unexpected and adverse consequences of liberal tactics of communication. An individual leading in a culturally sensitive society should display loyalty and commitment to protecting stakeholder interests against rivals (Hallinger, 2018). Most fundamentally, negative criticism against a community official can diminish public confidence and trust.

In conclusion, leadership in a culturally sensitive community is challenging for many individuals. Developing an objective plan for overcoming the challenge entails strategic inclusion of all parties affected. This approach is similar to the framework adopted by the current U.S. president. He has integrated representatives of all races within the cabinet. Social progress supporting gender equality and racial diversity has united many Americans. The plan has mitigated substantially racial protests fighting discrimination against African Americans. However, his liberal approach can expose his leadership to criticism if he fails to vital diversity goals. The leadership strategy can expose the vulnerabilities or weaknesses of leading in a culturally sensitive community.
