Jeff Bezos often starts changes in Amazon to make it correspond to current challenges. However, his attempts are not always successful.
Many criticized Bezos because his employee and customer policy are not always correct and transparent (Berg, 2019). However, he took significant steps to improve the company to meet the interests of different parties. For example, Amazon has stepped up the fight against fake reviews (Mutwiri, 2020). This change was required to make the platform more honest and empower people to make purchasing decisions based on reliable information.
Another important aspect of Amazon’s work is recurrent racial discrimination in different departments of the company. Unfortunately, this is a fairly common occurrence in modern business, and Amazon is no exception (Brevini and Swiatek, 2020). Bezos tried to eradicate this phenomenon at the management level and tried to create a more friendly atmosphere. However, the company’s size does not allow tracking of every detail and event in the work of every employee (Puhrsch, 2019). Consequently, the company’s climate adjustments have not been very successful.
Another innovation of the company is Amazon stores without cash registers and sellers. On the one hand, this change in-store operations is a good decision for the modern world (Plotkin, 2020). On the other hand, the world may not be ready to interact with robots, and the overall business model has not been successful enough, which is why some of these stores are closing (Moore, 2018). Therefore, it is safe to say that this was an interesting and useful step for the development of the company from the point of view of management (Berg and Knights, 2019). It became an experiment to study the audience and the market. However, it undoubtedly needs some work to make the company more successful.
