Therefore, in light of the complicated nature of human beings, proper theoretical and practical guidance is deemed necessary to help them attain error-free results. Although it is common for most managers to employ more than one theory, it is required to have a proper understanding of theory to enhance implementation and meeting of necessary needs. This paper aims at finding the most influential management scholar, attacking a leadership statement alongside establishing the most appropriate scholar that matches my viewpoints.
Marry Follett is the most significant as well as significant in management. She defines the means to enhance leadership through instilling a sense of power in people and involving employees in conflict resolution. In this case, Follett proposes direct contact between managers and workers to aid in conflict management and eradicate existing misunderstandings. This can be incorporated in my approach by ensuring co-active powers where workers feel valued, enhancing their readiness to share different feelings. Human beings typically tend to be open about their feelings in a situation where they feel valued and appreciated. The practice also helps in reducing unnecessary employees’ competition since they are treated in the same manner hence enhancing teamwork.
The first phrase where management is regarded as unethical due to workers’ manipulation gives complete reasons for attacking the statement. First, it is essential to realize that workers are usually complicated; therefore, without proper shifting of their entry behavior, leadership is likely to remain an elusive desire. Doing this allows them to be highly demanded following their unmatched performance levels. In this regard, management is entirely ethical as it involves manipulating workers through training to achieve desired outcomes.
Considering that management is a revolutionary field, modern workplaces employ varied leadership theories to maximize employee output. In this regard, Frederick Taylor’s management role matches my viewpoints in work analysis, specifications, and monitoring. Taylor emphasizes the need to analyze tasks to establish the most effective way of doing the work. Additionally, managers need to develop the skills required to execute specific functions by aligning employees’ abilities with the task requirements. Moreover, managers need to properly monitor employees’ performance to align with the set work practices. Proper adherence to these activities helps in boosting employees’ performance levels hence increasing their productivity.
However, Taylor’s opposing viewpoint on the help of teamwork contradicts my stand. Taylor believes in individual performance and greatly discourages collaboration due to disruptions from colleagues. His incredible attention to individualized performance tends to discourage creativity and collaborative problem-solving. Besides, managers need to exercise some controls in employees’ supervision to reduce the effects of strict micromanagement that prevent most workers. In this regard, employees need to be granted some freedom to increase their creativity hence enhancing their productivity. Nevertheless, it is significant to realize that a particular practice might offend an employee while others respond beautifully.
