Moreover, companies providing training and development can easily attract talent, which will also improve the overall performance of the company.

Appraisal in the Training and Development Process

Performance appraisal can be regarded as a component of TQM that involves constant evaluation and assessment (Griffin & Moorhead, 2013). Performance appraisal enables employees to identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as particular areas for improvement. The manager discusses certain goals and tasks to be completed, which are certain standards the employee should meet.

Clearly, the quality increases as employees understand what is expected and try to perform the tasks to their fullest potential. If the employee fails to complete a task, the reasons for that can be identified during the regular meetings. The employee can easily avoid similar mistakes and improve his/her performance. The commitment of employees also increases as they see that they are valued and supported. Employees are also committed to self-develop and acquire new skills and knowledge. Again, they try their best to improve their performance, which has a positive impact on the quality of services and products the company provides.
