Applying the Golden Rule Concepts in Management

Introduction

In the Bible, Luke 6:27-31 is also known as the Golden Rule because it advocates for people to be loving, respectful, and develop a caring virtue for one another. In addition, the Bible says that we should always love our enemies, do good to those who hate us for no reason, bless those who curse us, and, most importantly, pray for those who mistreat us. Nonetheless, the Golden Rule is closely related to three major concepts of total quality. Hence, it plays a vital role in enabling individuals and managers to be fair, honest, and perform all duties. This paper will look at all the possible ways a global operations manager could apply the Golden Rule concepts to the three major principles of total quality.

Main body

In most organizations, the global manager is responsible for facilitating the global business operations on behalf of the business entity. In the customer focus field, the global manager can apply the Golden Rule by encouraging the organizational employees to handle and treat their customers as they would like to be treated (Hall, 2020). In a case where the customers have to be put on hold, then they must be officially granted permission by the customers, always ask their permission first and explain the reason as to why they were put on hold.

Nonetheless, the manager may also opt to apply the Golden Rule regarding participation and teamwork matters. The guidelines for participation allow both the leader and employees to gain an understanding of their rights. In addition, it also encourages the employers and employees to work together and with respect even if they are mishandled and mistreated so that they may achieve the set goals and objectives of the firm (Hall, 2020). Nevertheless, the Golden Rule can also be applied to matters surrounding continuous learning and improvement. The primary aim is to ensure improvement, which can be achieved through continuous learning. In this case, the managers should teach their employees as they would have liked to be taught.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the viewpoint of the Golden Rule is noted in almost all significant cultures and regions, indicating the role it plays in customer focus, participation and teamwork, and continuous improvement and learning. It is also clear the Rule advocates for the act of kindness, love, care, and altruism that tend to go above the term “business as usual.” Therefore, it is essential in all aspects of leadership to enhance total quality principles.
