Introduction

Total quality management (TQM) is a management style in which the management disciplines are coordinated to provide customers with high-quality goods and services that are beyond their expectations. It is a comprehensive process that involves all the management levels of an organization.

BJB Manufacturing Quality Management Initiative Proposal

BJB Company has a great vision for the future. Hence, its stakeholders have many needs. Their needs include the desire to involve in the formation and implementation of a project, to obtain regular and consistent feedback, and setting up a steering committee that considers and respects their views. The strategic quality management approach will enable the company to integrate modifications to meet the stakeholder’s needs as well as maintain the quality of products and services.

The company pursues the research for more information on current products and their relation to the products that have been installed in new cars, research on current demands of car manufacturers, and their preferences of vehicles in which aftermarket products are being installed.

BJB Manufacturing Company Quality Management Theory

TQM has the following components quality objectives, quality standards, Quality control and assurance activities, and Quality tools. The BJB Company considers these components when developing their TQM. Several theories have been developed to guide the organization in designing TQM.

BJB Manufacturing Company Quality Management Strategy

To develop the TQM, the group needs to subdivide the task into manageable phases described below.

Phase 1: Researching the Problem

There are several theories that explain the development of TQM.

Deming’s theory is based on fourteen points of management. It states that quality is equal to the result of work efforts divided by the sum of the costs and that costs rise while the quality drops. Crosby also made similar statements.

Joseph Juran’s theory introduced the “quality trilogy concept.” The theory is made up of quality planning, quality improvement, and quality control. He postulated that quality improvement could only be attained through proper and careful planning. He brought up ten steps to quality improvement. The group decided to assess the theories and use them as the guidelines.

Phase 2

The second phase of the assignment requires the team to choose one of the theories proposed in the earlier stages to align it with the BJB CD disc changer manufacturing company. All the theories stress the importance of management responsibilities and the process it follows. Juran’s model is the most suitable for the company because it is customer-driven. BJB Company’s most important goal is to provide its customers with high-quality goods to satisfy them.

BJB structure is designed in correspondence to Juran’s trilogy of quality control, management, and planning. His views of having a systematic rapport with all the stakeholders, including the suppliers, were found to be vital for the company’s model. The company considers customers’ views and proposals just as BJB postulated. The trilogy serves as a measure to increase the service quality and reduce inaccuracy costs. Juran clearly pointed out that the way to getting results is to lay down the desired goals, to have a plan for achieving the target, give individuals their responsibility, and to base the results on the award achieved (clement, n.d.)

Phase 3

Quality plan is developed to help determine customers’ needs in terms of quality and to adopt a management plan to meet their expectations. The plan helps the project manager to find out if the deliverables are being produced to the required standards.

The Role of Leadership in Planning, Developing and Implementing the Total Quality Process in BJB

Management involves four basic functions i.e., planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the resources. The leadership of BJB initiated the TQM program by appointing a TQM manager to develop the implementation strategy. The leadership ensured that the manager with the greatest ability to command resources was appointed. The leadership organized the resources required by the developers and provided the funds needed to educate the employees in using the strategy, thus, helping in the implementation.

BJB Total Quality Management Program, Parts I through III Presentation

The reduction of new product failures is vital in this stage. This can be achieved through customer complaint management. Complaints are addressed by establishing written procedures regarding the company. The master control system continuously offers new methods to reduce the time required to validate a system. The company should strive to enhance and coordinate its communication. The strategy is to be able to choose efficient communication channels.

BJB Manufacturing Company Quality Management Supplier Alliance

These are the benefits that the business accrues as the result of forming partnerships with its suppliers. In such situations, distribution channels are set up to connect all the members so that their total costs are minimized. The supplier’s commitment to quality is analyzed. Their statistical process control methods and their approach to problem-solving and preventive maintenance are taken into account.

The supplier’s timely service is also analyzed because the business strategies are based on time, which depends on the arrival of the supplies at the right time. When delays arise, the business suffers. Reliability is, therefore, a key factor that the company observes in its suppliers. These partnerships have helped the company improve its products through product design. The suppliers have also advised the company on the design improvement and when more desirable materials can be used.
