McDonald’s is a world-famous fast-food restaurant that almost all people around the globe love. Millions of people visit this place to eat quickly on the go and enjoy the delicious food. Recently, McDonald’s felt a strong need to adjust its menu to various cultures, as they opened restaurants worldwide. It is interesting to examine how McDonald’s food differs depending on specific countries and look at features of particular culture’s restaurants.

It is known that human food differs from each other in various cultures. For example, in Muslim countries, it is inappropriate to eat pork as it violates the rules of the Koran. Thus, the food there is adapted to standards of Muslim culture; the menu contains no pork and emphasizes chicken meat (“Eating McDonald’s Around” 1:09-1:44). What is more, most positions on the menu of Dubai McDonald’s consist of chicken (“I Visited McDonald’s” 3:06-3:53). It is also notable that Arabic McDonald’s has a unique chicken wrap McArabia, available in Muslim countries only (“I Visited McDonald’s” 3:39-3:48). The menu also contains many spicy dishes and vegan positions cooked with vegetables.

Multiple things differentiate American McDonald’s from Dubai’s, starting with dishes and eating culture. For example, it is accepted to begin eating after the family’s oldest members in Muslim countries such as Dubai. Women in Arabic countries are required to wear unique clothes (hijab) according to traditions. The Muslim culture seems to be very different from the American one; Muslims often pray before eating and value their established traditions.

Overall, McDonald’s decided to adapt their menu because restaurants are open over the globe. It is evident how various cultures differ, and it becomes clear that people can not eat the same food in each part of the world. People from one culture may not understand the rules of another country and struggle with the new circumstances. Therefore, there is a need to examine the culture of a specific country, its religion, behavior, and traditions to maintain a decent restaurant within the country.
