This literature review examines the article «A study on stress management and coping strategies with reference to IT companies» by Shanthi (2016) to determine the benefits of stress managing programs in organizations. The problem of workplace stress is exceptionally widespread, and there are examples of improvements in some companies around the world. The observation of particular cases from IT companies described in Shanthi’s article can be used to define the benefits of corporate stress management.
The essential part of the research is identifying distinct types of strategies used by companies to determine their primary goals in stress management. Shanthi’s (2016) study contains a list of methods addressing multiple stress-related factors, including developing supportive organizational culture, incorporating physical activity into the working routine, improving ergonomics and environmental design, and others (Shanthi, 2016). This information allows one to determine the directions companies pursue by including stress management in their objectives. Based on this list, it can be noticed that stress management establishes a more relaxed working environment to increase employee’s dedication and will to work. Consequently, these programs bring better organizational performance due to the employee’s increased confidence and productivity. Although these instances are not supported by specific guidelines on implementation, they present the general approach of stress management in companies.
The data on the results and changes made after implementing stress management programs is crucial for defining their benefits. Shanthi describes the casualty of each methodic and companies’ improvements. For example, developing supportive organizational culture resolves the issue with insufficient feedback and communication and increases employees’ proactiveness and creativity (Shanthi, 2016). Also, incorporating physical activity into the working routine helps workers release anger and irritation, strengthens their physical health, and broadens their working capacity (Shanthi, 2016). Overall, it is evident that stress management positively affects workers’ productivity and leads to financial benefits.
To summarize, Shanthi’s article serves as a decent basis for the research on the benefits of stress management and coping strategies for organizations. It provides an overview of the most common coping strategies for workplace stress, indicating the directions of companies’ development. Additionally, in an analysis of stress management methods, the author describes the casualty between each technique and the company’s improvements. Although lacking some implementation guidelines, this study offers an adequate view of the positive implications of stress management.
