Decision-making
The success of any team and its ability to attain existing goals depend on several factors. Analyzing the team, it is vital to focus on its strengths and weaknesses. Thus, effective decision-making is one of the critical factors of any group. It depends on the ability to analyze the existing situation and select the most appropriate action to attain the desired outcomes. This concept is also linked to the ideas of leadership, as leaders should handle conflicts and monitor the effective distribution of roles (Northouse, 2021). For the team, having a potent and competent leader is one of its major strengths leading to improved goal achievement.
Stages of Team Development
The stage of team development is another factor that should be considered. Generally, there are five phases, such as forming, storming, norming, performing, and ending (Daft, 2016). Each stage is characterized by the specific behavior of its members, performance patterns, and expectations. That is why it is vital to select managing methods that will help to move from one stage to another. For instance, for the discussed team, the forming stage means that it is vital to introduce clear goals, structure cooperation, and distribute roles to avoid misunderstandings (Potter & Kavanagh, 2020). It will result in better performance and faster formation of a group with shared values.
Lack of Trust
At the same time, some barriers to the effective work of teams should be mentioned. First, the absence of trust might hinder the successful building of cooperation and deteriorate results. It means sharing expectations, creating a certain team culture, and improving communication to avoid stereotypic thinking or bias. Under these conditions, monitoring the level of trust is vital for establishing high-performance teams as it creates the basis for future achievements and helps to avoid conflicts.
